Worked as Chief of Staff to Assemblymember Paul Krekorian before his own election to the Assembly.

KEVIN DE LEÓN
Background
Born to a single immigrant mother from Guatemala, de León grew up in downtown Los Angeles.
First in his family to graduate from high school and attended U.C. Santa Barbara, later graduating from Pitzer College.
Experience
Worked as a labor organizer with the California Teachers Association and helped mobilize a large protest against Prop 187, which sought to deny public services to undocumented immigrants.
Served in the State Assembly (2006-2010) and then the State Senate (2010-2018), where he became the first Latino Senate President pro Tempore in over 130 years.
Elected to represent LA City Council District 14 in 2020. He has used his position to focus on homelessness, infrastructure, and environmental protection.
Platform
De León has prioritized tackling homelessness, leading efforts to build affordable housing and passing his "A Way Home" initiative, which aims to create 25,000 units of homeless housing by 2025.
Pushed for environmental protections, including securing funding for Los Angeles River revitalization and toxic waste cleanups.

YSABEL J. JURADO
Background
Born and raised in Highland Park, Los Angeles, to undocumented Filipino immigrants.
Graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and later from UCLA School of Law, specializing in Public Interest Law and Critical Race Studies.
Experience
Jurado has worked extensively on housing justice, representing tenants in eviction cases and advocating for affordable housing. She also provided legal assistance to small businesses at Bet Tzedek Legal Services.
Jurado served as a Commissioner on the LA City Human Relations Commission and worked as a legal and policy aide in Mayor Eric Garcetti's office.
She has long been active in fighting against displacement caused by gentrification and supporting community land trusts.
